Summer Adventures

This summer, Spencer and I went to Bear Lake, Utah with his folks for a Hess family reunion. It was beautiful and I had a great time meeting all of his Aunts and Uncles.

Kevin left for Antofagasta, Chile earlier this summer. The week before he left, we had a 'Kevin's Leaving Party'. Here are some of the pictures:

Updates ...

Unbeknownst to me, I was a co-presenter at a large educational conference in Vancouver a few months ago (AERA). I found out when I saw this poster outside of my profs door. (I did attend meetings where the idea of presenting at this conference was discussed and planned).

I'm still going to school at CU-Denver. I'm still working on my PhD in math education, and am doing really well (despite my fears). I have about five more courses and my dissertation and then I'll be done.

Spencer is planning on finishing his degree in electrical and mechanical engineering. He has almost finished his associates. Hopefully, by the time he's ready to start at a 4-year college, I'll be done with my course work? And then I can work from home to finish the paper and perhaps we can expand our family?

I guess that's about it. We love being close to our families and very much enjoy getting to see them often. We had Spencer's sister and two of my brothers over for dinner this week and have dinner with our families at least once a month. We love it and love being married.

Welcome to Married Life

Welcome to married life. These are the roses Spencer got me, along with a very sweet note, to welcome me to our new life together (the day we got back from our honey moon).

So I have started to explore our neighborhood, and there is a beautiful pond and a trail that goes around it.
So I have enjoyed jogging here.
We also have set up our new apartment, tuned our piano, and unpacked all our boxes. It feels like home.

Lastly, we have been helping out at church with the 2-year-olds. So for two hours, once a week, we play with toys, sing songs, teach short lessons about sharing or smiling, and eat snacks with 5 to 10 two year-olds. Today there were ten. We are exhausted. Kudos to all our friends who successfully parent. It is an exhausting and demanding job. But it is rewarding. They are very sweet and loving. Quick to forgive. But still exhausting.
