June 2016

In June, we celebrated Spencer's birthday - Jacob made him a cake. Grandma Jeanne King helped the kids get gifts and ties for him and they had fun wrapping them and making cards.

Swim team was in full swing. Everyone worked hard and got better. Marie got a Duck for being the first in her backstroke heat and got 4th in her breaststroke race.

Charlotte also got her first duck.

Devin did pups and had his pups race. He got three ducks for his three races. He worked hard and did it even though it was hard.

We did a race against the Smoky Hill Sharks and the team photo from Uncle Kevin's last year on the team was still up.

The kids had fun at the team pancake breakfast and party in the park.

Spencer took the kids bowling with some friends and they loved it.

We went to the museum of nature and science. The kids loved the discovery zone with the water play, the animal displays, science, and health display.

We went to Castle Rock to see a life size replica of Moses' tabernacle. There was a pen of sheep and Michael loved them. He kept saying baa!

Marie also bought her first bike. She and Jacob have been pulling weeds and mowing lawn for a couple people in the neighborhood, earning money.

May 2026

Today I was set apart as Primary 2nd counselor and Spencer as the Elder's Quorum 1st counselor. He has been serving as the Financial Clerk for the past 2 years. I was a  Young Women's advisor for the past 4 months (youngest class), before that, I was nursery leader for 4 months. Before that, I was the choir director for about 2+ years. And that was when our ward, Pine Ridge formed.

When I was set apart, I was blessed to be able to start to see beyond the veil, that the atonement would bless my mornings, and I was encouraged to find time to dig into the scriptures.

April 2026

In April, Spencer gave a great talk in Church. We did parks, crafts, etc.
For Easter, the kids got wooden magnets that they painted (see the photo of Devin's painted hair) and origami.
Jacob got to participate in a big world wide youth service project where he made bags out of t-shirts and filled them with baby clothes for an organization. He did some other service projects with his friends Jack Neuffer and Conrad Jones. They had a Chick Fil A dinner, and general authorities and a speaker. The speaker was a football player, member, adopted son of Emily Bell Freemon. He loved hearing his story and gave the kids good advice. He talked about turning into a bully at age 10 getting kicked out of his house at age 18. Freemon invited him to live at her house under the conditions of: no phone after 10pm, read the scriptures every day, and attend church weekly. He went on a mission, got called to priest's quorum after his mission, and one of them married his sister.

Jacob and Marie lego-ed.

There was a free day at the museum of nature and science, so I took the boys during Jacob's lunch and specials classes.  They had an impressive lego exhibit.

Charlotte had her 2nd grade play - Bingo. She was the farm hand and really loved practicing for several Mondays before hand, singing, and being on stage.

Grandma Jeanne King took Marie's baptism dress and modified it to better fit Charlotte. She was so happy with it. She also started planning out her baptism program. She is so excited to be baptized.

The girls made me cute Mother's day boxes at activities with sweet notes.

We had a birthday party for Charlotte where the girls tie dyed hats, played pin the horn on the unicorn (Marie drew the unicorn and lead the game), made bracelets, had lunch, and played outside. They had a blast.

Jacob made Charlotte her birthday cake. It was Kirby's dream land themed.

Michael is a climber. He has climbed on the table, so we started putting the chairs on the table. He pulls on the chairs, so we have to put them on the carpet so he doesn't move them and climb on the table. He even tried to climb on the stove.

Charlotte had her Eleanor Roosevelt presentation at school. Grandma and Grandpa Hess were here and got to see it, too. She researched her for about a month and put a poster together and then dressed like her and had a memorized speech. She did great!
