September and Jake

Jacob has grown quite a bit over the past month. He is starting to smile, hold up his head, and even laugh. He's starting to enjoy bath time (or at least not scream through it), and Kristin has gotten a little more accustomed to the nightly feedings.

Spencer is keeping busy with school and looking for a job related to his degree.  He is a great Dad and loves spending time with Jacob.  Kristin, besides being Mom and doing lots of baby laundry, is keeping busy with her online teaching and has recently started to try to work on her dissertation again; however, it has proven to be a tad difficult...I have no idea why.

Here are some pictures from this month.

This is Great Grandma Nona Hess holding Jake at his first outing to Bear Lake. Jake did very well and Kristin enjoyed all the extra babysitters and extra sleep.

Jake often sleeps on Spencer while Spencer does homework or plays a game.

This is the first and last picture of Jake in the swaddle blankets. Within an hour of falling asleep in this swaddle, Jacob pulled out his arms, and by the time Kristin came to feed him two hours later, he had kicked off the whole thing. He just likes having his arms free when he sleeps I guess.

Jacob at church -- he typically eats during part of sacrament and then sleeps on Spencer the rest of the 3 hours.

Jacob's first sport's paraphernalia from Aunt Tara.

When Jacob is awake, he really likes to hold his head up and bop around.

Despite our best efforts to file or cut his nails, Jacob scratches his face in his sleep (he has done this since he was born). The gloves from one of Kristin's classmates seem to take care of it.

And here are some pictures from Jacob's baby blessing on August 25th. Both of our parents came from Colorado along with David (from California) for the weekend. All three H. Scott Hess' were there with wives and Scott III had all his kids along with Laura, Julie and family.

Jake in his blessing outfit...he slept through his whole blessing.
